In times of change, we long for ways to maintain our connections to each other, and for a place to welcome newcomers. Lamar Community Center, first established in 1945 in the former Lamar School building, was once that vital center. In the early years, the goodwill and hard work of volunteers maintained the building and in so doing, sustained the community. Lamar experienced a period of decline in the 1990s due to rapid shifts in population and in our standards for comfort and convenience. The revitalization of Lamar since 1999 has transformed both the building and the community and things keep getting better and better. Lamar Community Center, Inc. needs you. Please become a member and share our vision of a fully restored Lamar School that will serve even more local residents and also provide a regional center for innovative programming in sustainable living and participatory arts.
