History of Lamar School Presentation was well attended on June 25th, 2015.
Over 30 people attend the 2015 annaul meeting of the St. Croix Falls, WI Historical Society at Lamar on June 25th. Attendees where graced with history and memories of the original town of Lamar and the Lamar School. A panel of four school alumni gathered to offer first-hand accounts of school life at Lamar in the 30's and 40's. Did you know that in the teens and twenties Lamar school had over 100 kids in attendance.
Lamar is available for your next gathering. The community is ready for events, gatherings, parties, receptions, meetings, classes, exhibits, fairs, bands, dances and more. Make Lamar work for you!
Rental costs start at only $100.00 for a half day. individuals offering classes please inquire. Non-profits get a discount. Lamar can be used for private parties, business meetings, non-profit gatherings and for individual classes and events.
Lamar wants the community to help with programming efforts. Start a poety slam, or a dance series or a yoga class. Lamar is wheel chair accessible and offers great natural lighting with 8 ft tall windows inside the 14 ft first floor, with two rooms and about 1600 SF of space. 2 bathrooms in the lower level. Parking for 35 cars.
Lamar School was originally constructed in 1905 as a one room school house and was later expanded to include the two upper rooms and the front entrance it has today. Lamar School is one of the few turn of the century school houses owned by a non-profit in Wisconsin, serving the local community and available to the public. Today Lamar Community Center, a 501(c)3 non-profit, owns, manages and cares for this building as the center of the organization's mission. Lamar School is proud to be listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
